Adoption Rules

We have cats and kittens to adopt. All cats/kittens are off the street. They have vaccines as age appropriate, flea treatment, first deworming, FIV/FeLV tests and have been spayed/neutered. We usually charge an adoption fee of $30. The fee helps to cover our costs of these basic treatments. We spend much more money on each cat but we want to keep a low adoption fee. Your new kitty should still be taken to a vet for a checkup and have a stool sample tested. (Unless otherwise noted)

If interested in adopting we will ask you to agree to the following:

1. I agree that my cat will be held in the highest regard as a member of my family, will be provided with proper care and will be treated with love and affection.

2. I will not have my cat(s) de-clawed.

3. I agree to keep cat as an INDOOR house pet only, and will not be allowed outside of the home unattended

4. I agree that my cat(s) will be fed a wholesome diet; fresh water will be accessible at all times.

5. I agree to keep the litter pan clean at all times.

6. I agree to relinquish ownership of the animal if it is deemed not to be receiving proper care.

7. I agree to see that the cat has prompt professional medical attention when necessary, and to see that it has a yearly checkup and booster shots

8. I agree to notify Chicago Alley Cats promptly when moving, giving new address, and telephone number.

9. I agree that if, for any reason I feel I can no longer provide a safe and comfortable home for the cat, I will contact Chicago Alley Cats to work out a solution agreeable to all parties. I agree that I will not surrender the cat to a shelter or other party until notifying and discussing the situation.
